| Sally Shaw plays "Bile 'Dem Cabbage Down" on the five string banjo |
Sally
Shaw is a five string banjo student at ScottSound Music.
She is 12 years old and has been taking banjo
lessons for eight months. She is featured on ScottSound Music’s YouTube channel: scottsoundmusic1.
The song of choice is “Cripple Creek", a popular bluegrass tune. Her repertoire includes: “Bile 'Dem Cabbage
Down”, “Old Dan Tucker”, “Careless Love”, “Lean on Jesus” and “This Train”.
Sally goes
to the Covenant School in North Dallas.
She has always wanted to learn a stringed instrument. A friend of hers played
the banjo and inspired her to want to
learn to play. In the
spring of 2011 Scott played at the Covenant School and Sally heard him play. A month later she was learning to play the banjo with
Scott as her teacher. Just

| Sylvan Perlmutter Performs |
Sylvan Perlmutter has been a student at ScottSound Music for over five years. He has taken clarinet, violin and guitar lessons. Sylvan started with the music lessons on the clarinet when he was in the
fifth grade and played in the Levine Academy Stallion Band for four years. He is now a sophomore at
J.J. Pearce High School in Richardson, TX. After becoming a very good clarinetist,
he played violin for a few months and then decided to pick up guitar. Since taking guitar
lessons with Scott Whitfield, his improvisational skills have flourished. He and Scott have prepared some great YouTube videos
of Sylvan playing blues, jazz, pop and rock tunes on guitar. They
are posted on ScottSound Music's YouTube Channel: ScottSoundMusic1.
Just click on Sylvan's photo to hear him play.
